Debra Bergstrom, FNP

Debra Bergstrom, FNP, completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing at the University of Texas in 1985 where she was valedictorian of her class. She then worked in several areas of specialized nursing including neurosurgery, cardiology and intensive care. She was also a nurse-educator in Cardiovascular Science, at a large hospital in Phoenix.

Her graduate work, Master of Science degree in nursing and Post Graduate program for Family Nurse Practitioner, was completed at Arizona State University in 1992 (MSN) and 1995 (FNP) where she graduated with honors and received the "Outstanding Graduate Student" award in the college of nursing.

After doing several internships in various disciplines, she worked as a Family Nurse Practitioner for a large clinic specializing in geriatric medicine, before founding the Neighborhood Family Practice in 2002.

Debra has authored or co-authored several articles in respected medical publications including "Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing", "Perceptual and Motor Skills", and "Journal of Neuroscience Nursing" as well as co-authoring an article in the book, "Advanced Practice Nursing ..... Emphasizing Common Roles" by Sheehy & McCarthy. She is active in several professional organizations including being an Individual Member Representative on the American College of Nurse Practitioners Board of Directors and the co-founder of CAZNAP, an Arizona based professional organization for Nurse Practitioners.

Having specialized skills in pain management, cardiology, neurological illness, chronic fatigue, hormone replacement therapy and diabetes, Debra has amassed an impressive amount of continuing education in these areas.
